Welcome to the Rio Tico Safari Lodge!

Along the Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica lies the Costa Ballena and our unique hotel, The Rio Tico Safari Lodge. It has nine Safari Tent Bungalows and three hotel rooms situated in a tropical garden near a crystal-clear river. Located four kilometres from the coastal highway in Vergel de Punta Mala, we are surrounded by mountainous rainforest.

Our Safari Tents offer a direct experience with a Costa Rican tropical rainforest and will unite you with the natural bounty of Costa Rica. Here in the virgin rainforest, you will awaken every morning to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys. Our roomy Safari Tents are very comfortable with private bathrooms, spacious verandas and have beautiful views of the river and surrounding mountains. Enjoy the scenery of the rainforest while bird watching from your veranda or have a refreshing swim in the natural pools of the river; we leave it up to you.

The Rio Tico Safari Lodge is situated in between two very special national parks, Marino Ballena and Corcovado. In Marino Ballena National Park you can enjoy everything this rich coast has to offer: whales, dolphins, turtles and brightly colored fish. Corcovado National Park is the habitat of tapirs, toucans, scarlet macaws, coatis, agoutis and the four Costa Rican species of monkeys. National Geographic stated that Corcovado National Park contains the most intense biodiversity in the world.

At the Rio Tico Safari Lodge, we not only would like you to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica, but also the Costa Rican culture and hospitality of the village of Vergel de Punta Mala. The villagers offer hiking and horseback riding on their farms and through the rainforest. Just a short distance from the Rio Tico Safari Lodge there is a magnificent and a picture perfect waterfall. In addition, beach lovers can visit the pristine and deserted beaches of Playa Tortuga and Las Ventanas, only six kilometres from the lodge.
