Sustainability Certification
The Rio Tico Safari Lodge is in the process of being certified by the Costa Rican Tourist Board, I.C.T., as a sustainable Costa Rican hotel. Our sustainability efforts include bringing our garbage to a recycling center; minimizing the use of water and electricity; using biodegradable detergents and a special sceptic system that purifies the effluents before returning them to nature.

At check in all our guests will receive a refillable biodegradable water bottle. Out tap water is safe drinking water, so you can refill your water bottle again and again. This way we reduce the amount of waste in Costa Rica.

Namu Gallery
In addition to the natural beauty that Costa Rica has to offer, we would also like to highlight the cultural diversity of Costa Rica. We recommend to visit the village of Boruca and buy a beautiful hand painted wooden mask or textiles directly from the artist. You can also go to the Namu Gallery (www.galerianamu.com) in San José, which sells artwork made by a number of indigenous groups. The artwork is bought according to the fair trade principles - directly from the artist - and will be a beautiful reminder of your trip through Costa Rica.
