Enjoy an untroubled holiday while helping to preserve our environment

rioticologo The Rio Tico Safari Lodge would like to introduce the natural beauty of the Southern Pacific coast to its guests for their enjoyment. All of us hope future generations will continue to enjoy the beauty of nature. That is why the Rio Tico Safari Lodge has an on-going commitment to the preservation of our natural environment. We at the Rio Tico Safari Lodge not only take responsibility for your holiday pleasure, but also for our unique ecosystem.

The Rio Tico Safari Lodge is in the process of being certified by the Costa Rican Tourist Board, I.C.T., as a sustainable Costa Rican hotel. To accomplish this goal, we have signed an agreement with the Rainforest Alliance, an international organization committed to let hotels in Latin-American countries take responsibility for the environment.

Our sustainability efforts include bringing our garbage to a recycling center which donates their income to a local school; minimizing the use of water and electricity; using biodegradable detergents and installing a special septic system that purifies the effluents before returning them to nature.

We also support the community of Vergel de Punta Mala by encouraging the locals to develop their own tours. The Rio Tico Safari Lodge hiking and horseback riding tours are run and managed by local villagers in an effort to spread tourist income throughout the village. To this end, all tour profits from these tours goes directly to them.

Logo Galeria Namu In addition to the natural beauty that Costa Rica has to offer, we would also like to highlight the cultural diversity of Costa Rica. In cooperation with Namu Gallery (www.galerianamu.com) in San José, we exhibit and sell artwork made by a number of indigenous groups. The artwork is bought according to the fair trade principles - directly from the artist - and will be a beautiful reminder of your trip through Costa Rica.
